The Road Maintenance Fund Administration (RMFA) was established by the Road Maintenance Fund Administration Act No. 3 of 2010 to finance the maintenance of the core road network and provide for other related matters.

The objective is to set up an independent administration to ensure the proper, efficient, economic and sustainable management of the Road Fund dedicated for maintenance of the national road network.

To secure and manage the funds in a cost effective manner so as to ensure timely routine and periodic maintenance of the national road network

To create a Sierra Leone with a premium road network for socioeconomic growth.

(a) Manage and administer the Fund;

(b) Approve the amount of funding to be made available to the Sierra Leone Roads Authority for the performance of the Authority’s functions;

(c) Effectively monitor the use of monies allocated from the Fund;

(d) Approve any application from any local councils for any road maintenance-related activity;

(e) Do all other things that will contribute to attaining the object stated above.

  • All 22 Local Councils get 20 percent for maintenance of Rural Feeder Roads (Class F roads);

  • The Board of Directors is headed by a Chairman to provide policy directions for the RMFA.
  • The Management is headed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). It is charged with the implementation of the Board’s approved policies. The CEO’s Office is supported by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) and three specialized departments {Finance & Investment Department, Administration & Corporate Services Department and Planning Programmes, Monitoring & Evaluation Department.

Generally, most of the information about RMFA is on our website (rmfa.gov.sl), Newsletter, and brochure. However, a request for specific information requires direct contact with the requisite authorities and/or sending an official correspondence requesting the type or name information.
